Eyewitnesses say the child was attempting to rush his heavily pregnant mother, believed to be nearly due, to a maternity hospital when police officers on patrol noticed the car moving erratically.
When flagged down, the boy reportedly panicked and sped off, leading to a brief chase that ended when the vehicle lost control and overturned near the busy Museum Hill junction.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes and rescued both the mother and child, rushing them to a Nairobi hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition.
